What we currently know about Erebus territory (taken from the FE wiki):
House Erebus has always reign over the Erebus territory. It is the fourth highest standing noble family in Faerghus, behind the royal family, Duke Fraldarius, and Margrave Gautier.
Typically the oldest son will inherit the house, but in the recent generations, there have been only daughters birthed and they end up becoming the head of House Erebus with their husbands who ended up marrying into the household. Eventually, it became common to want to marry your non-first sons into House Erebus only for the wealth and status, but it is expected that your child will most likely not have any crests.
Originally a branch of House Charon, it eventually broke off when the 1st Head of House Erebus obtained the title of Marquisate in Year 801 due to his accomplishments in the Leicester Rebellion and the many mages birth from this noble house. Despite this, House Erebus is still friendly and has close ties to House Charon.

When the First Mach War occurs, he is one of the many who was attacked. He receives a fatal wound and, on his death bed, Macuil comes across him and gives him his blood (aka the Crest of Macuil) and an ategir / glaive.
